SUMMARY:Symposium | 132
DESCRIPTION:Symposium: Reframing Colonial Memory in the Public Realm As his
torical understanding grows more complex\, the narratives embedded in our
built environment call for critical reflection. This symposium explores ho
w colonial heritage is represented and contested in public space\, and how
spatial interventions can give room to multiple narratives of memory rega
rding complex history. The symposium is a collaboration between D.B.S.G. S
tylos and the KNOB. The event is centered on A Space of Reflection\, an M
Sc Architecture graduation project by Nynke Stam. The project serves as a
research tool to spark interdisciplinary dialogue. This symposium aims to
foster awareness and constructive exchange on how architecture can engage
with contested colonial pasts. The evening will be filled with dialogues a
nd there will be free drinks available afterwards. Throughout the symposiu
m\, the following questions will be discussed 1. How can spatial intervent
ions create room for plural memory? 2. In what way are colonial infrastruc
tures still present in our current cities? 3. How do we deal with conteste
