Description
We are Paul de Ruiter Architects. A group of independent designers with a passion for sustainability and architecture, and B-Corp certified since 2016. Our office is located in a former steel workshop in Amsterdam's Schinkelbuurt neighborhood. We renovated the building and transformed it into a sustainable office that reflects all our values. Here, we work with a diverse and international team of approximately 40 architects, designers, and specialists on future-proof architecture.
What you'll do:
During this practical internship, you'll learn about all phases of the design process. Under the guidance of our architects and construction engineers, you'll contribute to the design, development, detailing, and realization of complex, sustainable projects - from hotels and offices to residential and educational buildings. We are looking for an enthusiastic intern to strengthen our team from 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳. You are curious, have strong design skills and are interested in sustainability, circularity and innovative construction techniques. Do you want to work on buildings that give energy – to both people and the environment? Then we would like to meet you.
What we're looking for:
- Architecture student (final bachelor's/early master's level);
- Preferably a good command of Dutch;
- Passion for sustainable architecture;
- Available for at least four months;
- Experience with AutoCAD and SketchUp is a plus.
What we offer:
- An informal learning environment with plenty of room for personal input;
- Working on innovative sustainable projects;
- A multidisciplinary and close-knit team;
- An inspiring, green work environment.
- Travel and bicycle allowance;
- Daily (vegetarian) lunch;
- Internship allowance of €750 per month (40 hours);
- Excursions and various other office activities.
About Paul de Ruiter Architects
Our firm was founded in 1994 on the PhD research project "The Chameleon Skin" by Paul de Ruiter, in which he argued that buildings should generate energy rather than consume it - both technically and humanly. This conviction has been the foundation of our work for over thirty years. We design sustainable buildings that know where the sun rises and in which people feel happy and inspired. We are leaders in healthy, circular, and energy-generating construction, both nationally and internationally. From the first climate facade for Radboud University (1994) and the self-sufficient Villa Kogelhof (2013), to the first LEED Platinum office for TNT. We also realized projects such as the almost entirely biobased Biosintrum, the energy-positive Langeveld Building based on the power of the wind, and we transform monuments into Paris-proof buildings, including C93 in Rotterdam.
